The fall of Grindlewald had set the Wizarding World at peace once more thanks to the efforts of Albus Dumbledore and a small band of people wishing to fight the good fight. That same band of people would be brought forth from the ashes in the future to fight a budding threat…or that would have been the case. You see though that isn’t how this story goes. Voldemort’s rise to power was much different here.

Tempered with wise council Tom Riddle came to the decision that taking the Wizarding world over by terror was not as wise as winning them over from within. After all, the old adage went you caught more flies with honey than vinegar. At twenty-five the charismatic young man has made quite a name for himself. The Undersecretary to the Minister of Magic himself Tom has been master behind the puppet for two years now. The time has come to cut the strings though, to let the truth be known of who is behind all the good being done.

There are those though that think ill of all the good being done. There are those like the wise old Albus Dumbledore that knows what truth lies in the heart of Undersecretary Riddle. It has yet to be seen how the cards will be laid out, though.

Power Corrupts is a Riddle Era Alternate Universe Harry Potter Role Play set in 1951. Voldemort was a name barely mumbled among trusted friends these days and Tom Riddle is the master behind the thrown. There is change on the horizon though and it is anyone’s guess how things will turn out in the end.

They are coming...
...but it's not who you think

For decades, muggles have known about the world of wizards, but like the existence of aliens, this knowledge was kept a secret from society at large. While government officials still collected data about this strange race, they decided to 'live and let live' and to leave them all in peace. But then the blatant attacks of the Death Eaters got out of control. The wizarding population as a whole was blamed, and it was decided that something had to be done.

May 1, 1998, was a day that would go down in both muggle and wizarding infamy. Years of quietly studying and experimenting on willing muggleborn subjects were finally put to use.

They attacked.

Wizards, engulfed in a civil war, a battle between dark and light, were wholly unprepared for this assault, and were easily infiltrated and taken down. Many of their numbers died in the attack, while others, including the Dark Lord and the Boy Who Lived were captured.

It is now two years later, December of 2000, and the wizarding world as it once was is no more. But there are those out there, renegade wizards who escaped the initial attacks, who are determined to reclaim what is rightfully theirs and save their race from extinction.

Who will win the second fight?

The Psi Corps: An Original Character RPG

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

The year is 2109. It has been twelve years since the purge of the Telepaths, a two year long war where Telepaths and Telekinetics were ruthlessly hunted down. It has been twelve years and 1 month since the passing of the Psi Protection Act, granting telepaths freedoms as any other citizen and protections formerly unknown, but also placing limits on what telepaths could legally do. It has been 11 years and 11 months since the formation of the Psi Corps, a government controlled para-military organization charged with protecting, organizing, and regulating telepaths.

With the formation of the Psi Cops, those telepaths that are considered rogues have gone further underground, helped by mundane sympathizers. They are only occasionally lucky enough to remain hidden and not returned to the Corps.

Though there are heavy regulations on what a telepath can and cannot do, they soon find themselves working with the government, and outside the PPA. Some cherish their roles and some grow ever more frightful of the abuses being heaped upon telepaths.

Will you obey the Corps as mother, as father? Or will you fight?

Present day Aiode Falls, Maine is home to many residents from all over the globe. And Universe. The little college town is growing, and becoming home to more and more people all the time. Some of them have no idea how they came to arrive, and some can never go home. As the University gets darker with new arrivals harboring less than happy intentions, so does the city. It is now home to metahumans, vampires, humans, demons, ghosts, aliens and even celestial beings. All of them with defined morals (or none, for that matter) and each with an allegiance. Those without a chosen allegiance are considered fair game, as both sides subconsciously prepare.

There is a constant battle for good and evil in this town, and only one side can prevail.

As children, we're expected not just to believe in fairy tales, but to embrace them. Boys can fly and live as children forever, girls can be rescued from their evil step-mothers and whisked away to castles in pumpkin coaches; the world is an endless stretch of possibility set against a backdrop of inherent freedom.

It is only a fiction. The world eventually reveals itself to be an unkind place, the villains not easily defeated, no fairy godmother to come to the rescue. The loss of innocence is taken in stride by some, and those fortunate masses go on to become grown-ups, to live out their lives in some boring profession or another, to forget magic after passing it along to their own children.

But what of those who grow older without growing up? What if Alice witnessed something so terrifying that she never wanted to leave Wonderland? What if Belle's beast was so cunning and so cruel that she could not bear to part from him, his murder of her father aside? For all of those who fell through the cracks, for the most unique and the least privileged, the untouchable and the uncared for, for the most heartbreaking and horrifying, there exists a refuge. The shelter? A deceptively quiet New England hospital; Cheshire Crossing.
